The government of Uttar Pradesh (UP) is reportedly considering changes to its micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) policy in order to encourage female entrepreneurship.
The proposed new policy will provide women entrepreneurs with a full stamp duty subsidy when purchasing land for the establishment of micro and small units. Aside from that, other MSMEs would receive subsidies ranging from 50% to 100%, depending on the region of the state. In essence, the state government will provide a full subsidy in the industrially backward regions of Bundelkhand and Purvanchal, while the central and western UP regions, excluding Gautam Buddha Nagar and Ghaziabad, will receive a 75% subsidy on stamp duty for land purchase. A 50% subsidy has reportedly been proposed in the industrial hubs of Gautam Buddha Nagar (Noida) and Ghaziabad.
