Delhi government unveiled a draft policy paper for the Delhi Motor Vehicles Licensing of Aggregators Scheme 2022, which aims to provide premium app-based bus aggregator services for intercity travel.
The scheme will see the state government launch premium app and web-based bus aggregator services in the National Capital Region (NCR). It will privatise intercity bus transportation and allow private players to operate air-conditioned electric and compressed natural gas buses in the region. According to the draft paper, the scheme’s goal is to encourage a modal shift in public transportation by promoting efficient premium bus services. The state government also intends to reduce traffic congestion, improve urban transportation, improve transportation asset utilisation, and improve air quality in the NCR.
