The Public Prosecution in Abu Dhabi has issued a warning to social media users about wire fraud via misleading advertisements promising quick profits, attractive returns, and high rewards.
The warning was issued via the official social media account of the Abu Dhabi Public Prosecution. “Abu Dhabi Public Prosecution Warns of Wire Fraud Aimed at Syphoning Off Funds with Promises of Imaginary Profits, Following an Advertisement Posted on Social Media,” the post read. Users of social media are advised to be cautious and avoid dealing with unknown parties. Over 2,400 fake job pages impersonating companies from 13 MEA countries were discovered and exposed last month by Digital Risk Protection, a Dubai threat intelligence and research centre.
