Facebook hacked trend on Twitter as random celeb spam clogs news feed

Facebook experienced an outage as users reported spam sent to celebrity accounts clogging their news feed. Thousands of users in the United States and the United Kingdom have reported that their news feeds are flooded with celebrity posts addressed to popular artists such as Eminem, Billie Eilish, and One Direction.

Users took to Twitter to report the bug, with many sharing screenshots of their news feeds. Outages reported on Wednesday peaked between 12 and 3 p.m., with 339 reports at 1:05 p.m., according to Downdetector. According to the outage tracking website, 60% of outages were reported on the app, 26% on the feed, and 14% on the website. Meanwhile, thousands of reports of outages were received from the United States and the United Kingdom.
