Ashneer Grover removes inflammatory social media posts against BharatPe following court directive

Ashneer Grover, the co-founder of fintech unicorn BharatPe, has claimed that he has removed all inflammatory social media posts against the company following a court directive. The Delhi High Court had directed both parties to refrain from using defamatory language against each other and advised their counsels to inform their clients accordingly.

During a recent hearing, Grover’s counsel informed the court that they would abide by its previous order and had retracted all the social media posts. However, Grover’s counsel raised concerns about a statement made by BharatPe, alleging fraud committed by Grover and his family, and requested its removal.

BharatPe’s counsel agreed to remove the word “family” in the statement accusing Grover and his family of fraud. The dispute between the parties arose after Grover posted critical social media posts targeting BharatPe and its top management, particularly Rajnish Kumar, the current chairman of the board at BharatPe.

The controversy escalated when BharatPe filed a criminal complaint against Grover and his family, alleging fraud of INR 81.28 crore, and also filed a civil suit seeking damages of INR 88.67 crore. Additionally, BharatPe filed an arbitration suit to reclaim restricted shares allotted to Grover.

Despite the ongoing legal battles, Grover has been actively promoting his new venture, the fantasy cricket app CrickPe, which gained significant traction with 10 lakh downloads within a month of its launch. The lawsuits and disputes have resulted in a rift between the co-founders of BharatPe, with separate lawsuits filed against Grover by his fellow co-founders.

While the court has directed both parties to refrain from further defamatory language, the legal proceedings and disputes between Grover and BharatPe continue to unfold.
