Meta to unveil its next VR headset at the company’s Connect conference in October. Late Thursday, CEO Mark Zuckerberg made the announcement in an equally surreal setting: the Joe Rogan Experience podcast on Spotify.

He stated that the new VR headset, a follow-up to the popular Oculus 2, will emphasise “social presence,” with features such as eye-tracking and face-tracking. According to Zuckerberg, the headset is intended to capture users’ facial expressions and replicate them on their avatars in real time to improve nonverbal communication. He also mentioned that, while Meta’s AR glasses are still a few years away, the headset that will be released in October will include some mixed reality features.
