A cloud kitchen, according to the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI), can supply its products to multiple brands. The FSSAI’s comments follow the disclosure by a Substack user that a person was allegedly running hundreds of fake brands on Swiggy and Zomato.

According to the food safety authority, the cloud kitchen can supply its products to “innumerable brands” as long as they meet the standards. Pea Bee, or Prashant Baid, a Substack user, posted last week that a single person was running around 200 brands each on Swiggy and Zomato from two locations in Bengaluru. According to a TechSci Research report, India’s cloud kitchen market is expected to grow at a CAGR of 15.5% to 17.5% between 2024 and 2028, with a market size of $2.5 billion by FY28. Rebel Foods, Curefoods, and Biryani By Kilo are among the major players in the cloud kitchen market.
