Google intends to conduct a pilot programme to allow daily fantasy sports apps and rummy games on the Play Store in India, in response to a request from the local community that has long expressed frustration with the Android-maker for not welcoming services on its store in the world’s second-largest market that it allows in many other parts of the world.
Google announced a one-year pilot programme beginning September 28 to allow the aforementioned apps on the Play Store in India. Companies incorporated in India that want to participate in the pilot must fill out an application form, according to the company’s support page. The company also requires these apps not to use Google Play billing for in-app purchases during the pilot. It’s unclear whether the company allows fantasy apps to use alternative payment methods for this purpose. We’ve asked Google for more information.
