In the midst of debates and discussions about cryptocurrency regulation, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman urged the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to take the lead. The minister has called for a global coordinated and synchronised approach to the regulation of crypto assets.
Sitharaman discussed the issue with IMF managing director Kristalina Georgieva in New Delhi on Wednesday, according to a tweet from the ministry. Georgieva also stated that, despite global uncertainty and headwinds, India remains a bright spot in the global economy, according to the ministry. Among other things, the minister emphasised the importance of completing the 16th General Review of Quotas (GRQ) in a timely manner that addresses global economic inequality and imbalances.
