Nykaa founder Falguni Nayar is now India’s richest self-made woman

Falguni Nayar, the founder of the ecommerce platform Nykaa, has become India’s richest self-made woman, according to the IIFL Wealth Hurun India Rich List 2022. Nayar’s wealth increased more than that of Biocon’s Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw following a blockbuster public listing.

Shaw, dubbed the “biotech queen,” ranked 67th on the list with a net worth of INR 24,800 Cr. Nayar’s net worth surpassed Shaw’s after a 345% increase, with a net worth of INR 38,700 Cr. In November 2021, Nayar’s Nykaa was publicly listed. According to Hurun, Nayar then became the second wealthiest person, trailing only Ravi Modi of Vedant Fashions. She was ranked 169th on the list last year, and the CEO of the ecommerce unicorns was ranked 33rd in 2022.
