Karnataka’s proposed EV hub on the outskirts of Bengaluru will house approximately 1,000 EV startups, said the state’s IT/BT Minister CN Ashwath Narayan on Thursday at the opening of an international mobility conference organised by the Society of Automotive Engineers India (SAEI).

According to the minister, the government has already taken several steps to promote the growth of the automotive industry. Five centres of excellence will be established to support training, research, development, innovation, and entrepreneurship. According to Narayan, the state, which is already a popular destination for investments in the IT/BT, semiconductor, and electronics sectors, will soon become a premier hub for electric vehicles. He also stated that the government had prioritised environmentally friendly fuel and environmental protection as prescribed by the United Nations. He went on to say that the government was seriously considering starting production of environmentally friendly hydrogen.
