Amazon claims that more than a half-dozen hardware vendors have indicated that they will not enter into a TV manufacturing relationship with the e-commerce company for fear of retaliation from Google, escalating tensions with the search giant, with whom it competes in several markets.
The revelation was made to the Competition Commission of India by Amazon’s unit in India as part of the antitrust watchdog’s years-long investigation into Google over claims that it abuses its dominant position in Android. Google does abuse its dominant position in Android, according to the regulator, who slapped a $162 million fine on Thursday. The Competition Commission of India interviewed several industry players as part of the investigation, including Samsung, Microsoft, and Mozilla.
