Taiwan’s Gogoro to test 6-second battery swapping stations in India

Taiwan-based electric vehicle startup Gogoro intends to test its 6-second battery swapping stations in India. After Singapore and Indonesia, this will be the company’s third operational pilot.

The company intends to launch its India pilot with swap stations and electric two-wheelers in November in Delhi-NCR. “Gogoro is coming to India to work with multiple players,” Gogoro India General Manager Kaushik Burman told YourStory. According to Gogoro, over 125 million battery swaps are performed annually through its 2,400 battery swapping stations in Taiwan, with a total of 350 million swaps completed. The reasons for expanding to India, according to Kaushik, are the size of the market and the government’s push for electric vehicles (EVs) through various policies, which give international players “great confidence.”
