Instagram will soon allow a select group of creators to create and sell NFTs directly within the app

Meta announced today the launch of several new creator updates on Instagram and Facebook. Most notably, the company announced that Instagram creators will soon be able to design their own NFTs and sell them directly to fans on and off Instagram.

With this update, creators will gain access to a toolkit that will assist them in creating, displaying, and selling NFTs. Meta has chosen Polygon as the first partner for this feature. Instagram users will be able to purchase the NFTs directly from the app. According to Meta, the process will take place through traditional in-app purchases on iOS and Android. And, for the time being, Instagram is not taking a cut of the creators’ earnings. Meta is currently testing this new feature with a small group of creators in the United States, with plans to expand it to additional countries in the future.
