Twitter will roll out a “official” label for select verified accounts when it launches its new $8 Twitter Blue service, said Esther Crawford, the social media platform’s early stage products executive, on Tuesday.
The label will be applied to the accounts of governments, corporations, media outlets, and public figures and will not be available for purchase. “A lot of people have asked how you’ll be able to tell the difference between @TwitterBlue subscribers with blue checkmarks and accounts that have been verified as official, which is why we’re introducing the “Official” label to select accounts when we launch,” Crawford wrote in a tweet.
