British multinational universal bank HSBC applied for NFT and Metaverse-related trademarks for its name and logo. On December 15, 2022, HSBC filed with the United States Trademark and Patents Office (USPTO).

HSBC intends to create virtual goods, such as bank cards, cash cards, cheque cards, debit cards, and others that are NFT-authenticated for use in online virtual worlds. Virtual payment card transactions, virtual prepaid cards, virtual debit cards, and virtual credit cards are also in the works in the metaverse. HSBC also intends to host an online website for the distribution of financial information, data security services, online communities for digital assets, NFTs, metaverse, and other services.
