WhatsApp is reportedly rolling out a new feature called ‘voice status updates’ which is available for the Android beta for testing. Users will be able to share voice notes through status updates thanks to the new feature.

The beta testers will be able to share voice notes as status updates with the new feature. According to WABetaInfo, one could accomplish this by using the new feature found in the text status section. By allowing users to delete a recording before sharing it, the platform will also give users more control over voice recordings. Users must update their WhatsApp version in order to hear voice notes shared via status, and the maximum recording time for a voice note is 30 seconds. End-to-end encryption will ensure that only the people users select within their privacy settings can listen to voice notes that are shared as status updates.
