Share via:

The Supreme Court of India directed Uber India to apply to the Maharashtra government for valid licences to continue operations in the state by March 6. The state government has two weeks to make a decision on Uber’s application.

Furthermore, the court has directed the state government to develop an appropriate policy for cab aggregators in accordance with the Centre’s guidelines. The Supreme Court added that the Motor Vehicle Aggregator Guidelines 2020 would hold the field for the time being. Uber is currently operating in Maharashtra under a provisional aggregator licence granted by the Bombay High Court in March 2022. The bench led by the CJI also chastised the Maharashtra government for the uncertainty.
