Tesla workers in New York launched a union campaign

Share via:

A group of Tesla employees in Buffalo, New York, emailed CEO Elon Musk to announce their intention to unionise. The group, dubbed Tesla Workers United, hopes to establish the electric vehicle company’s first union.

Many of Tesla’s Buffalo employees label data as part of the automaker’s Autopilot team, a job that may become less important to Tesla’s operations in the future. At least, that was the takeaway from Tesla’s closure of its San Mateo office last June, when it laid off 229 Autopilot workers who annotated data to train the automated driving system. According to reports, the remaining 47 employees were relocated to Buffalo.
