Amid a significant increase in the adoption of electric vehicles (EVs) in the country over the last year, particularly in the two- and three-wheeler segments, EV startup River launched its first electric two-wheeler model on Wednesday (February 22) to capture a share of the fast-growing market.
Indie, River’s escooter model, has a motor with a peak power of 6.7 kW and a top speed of 90 km per hour. The INR 1.25 Lakh (ex-showroom Bengaluru) electric two-wheeler has a 4 kWh battery and a range of 120 km. River claims that a standard charger can charge the vehicle to 80% in 5 hours. The registrations of electric two-wheelers in the country stand at 1.1 Lakh units in 2023 so far, as per Vahan data. The year 2022 saw registrations of 6.3 Lakh two-wheeler EVs.
