Royal Gulf Industries, a subsidiary of Hyderabad Castings Limited and part of the Nakhat Group, announced on Thursday that it will invest AED6.4 million to build the UAE’s first environmentally friendly automotive battery recycling centre.
The 110,000-square-foot project at Al Ghail Industrial Zone will be operational by the fourth quarter of this year, with over 150 people employed. The company hopes to recycle up to 35,000 metric tonnes of used lead acid batteries per year through this project. As a result, the company expects to produce 21,500 tonnes of lead ingots and 2,400 metric tonnes of plastic granules, the majority of which will be exported to India, Japan, Korea, China, and Europe for the manufacture of new lead acid batteries and cases.
