Uber is testing in-car tablets in Delhi and Mumbai as part of a global rollout to show advertisements and value-added services to riders.

These tablets will be installed behind the front seat, facing the rider, and will be used to monetise and generate additional revenue streams by displaying advertisements to users. “The Indian engineering team is doing a lot of critical engineering work for this pilot, and it is a global product,” said a source familiar with the situation, adding that the tablets will first be installed in cabs in the United States before being brought into markets such as India. The company can display third-party advertisements and cross-sell other services such as Uber Eats.
