Walmart announced today that it will enter the metaverse with two new Roblox experiences: “Walmart Land” and “Universe of Play.”

Roblox players can collect new virtual merchandise, play games featuring toys and characters, earn toys from a blimp, attend live concerts, win fashion competitions, and more in the virtual worlds aimed at younger Walmart customers. This is the first time the retail store has tried virtual worlds, as it continues to experiment with new ways to reach the next generation of shoppers, Generation Alpha and Generation Z. Walmart has previously experimented with virtual technology, such as its new AI-powered virtual try-on technology.
