BMW will use Amazon Alexa to develop its next voice assistant

Amazon Alexa will be the foundation of BMW’s next-generation voice assistant, the two firms revealed on Wednesday at Amazon’s annual Devices and Services launch event.

The collaboration between the German automaker BMW and Amazon has evolved over the years since BMW first started offering the Alexa assistant in some of its vehicles in 2018. But this announcement is different. BMW won’t simply integrate Alexa into cars like it has in the past. It will create its own assistant with technology from Amazon. Within the following two years, the first BMWs equipped with the new voice assistant generation will be on sale. If the plan is successfully implemented, BMW will have access to Amazon technology and be free to concentrate on developing specific car characteristics.
