Netflix’s new feature lets subscribers kick devices off their accounts

Share via:

The new “Manage Access and Devices” feature from Netflix enables account holders to remotely log out of devices they don’t recognise or don’t want to be signed in to.

As freeloaders who may have been logging in without the account holder’s knowledge are kicked off the service, the addition could encourage more of them to become subscribers. The new function comes after other recent introductions that also sought to restrict account-sharing, such as Profile Transfer, which appeared in the midst of a wider crackdown as Netflix experienced subscriber losses. Netflix subscribers can access the “Manage Access and Devices” option under “Account Settings” to remove devices from their accounts. This option lists the user’s most recent devices as well as the kind of device (Roku Smart TV, Android phone, etc.), the IP address, and the precise time and date the device last accessed the subscriber’s Netflix account.
