In order to demonstrate its interest in text-generating AI systems like ChatGPT, Quora this week introduced Poe, a platform that enables users to ask questions, receive immediate responses, and engage in back-and-forth communication with AI chatbots.

Poe, which stands for “Platform for Open Exploration,” is an invite-only, iOS-only platform that is “designed to be a place where people can easily interact with a number of different AI agents,” a Quora representative wrote in a text message to TechCrunch. “Over the last 12 years of building and running Quora, we have learned a lot about creating consumer internet products. Additionally, we have particular expertise in helping those who are seeking knowledge, the spokesperson said. We think that a lot of what we’ve learned is transferable to this new field where people interact with big language models.
