The Adani Group took full control of news broadcaster NDTV Limited after acquiring the majority stake of founders Prannoy Roy and Radhika Roy at a premium of nearly 17% over the rate it paid to minority shareholders.

According to a regulatory filing, the Adani Group now owns 64.71% of New Delhi Television Ltd (NDTV). Following the change in ownership, the Roys, along with four other directors, resigned, according to NDTV. Furthermore, the former promoters of the news broadcaster requested that they be reclassified from ‘promoter’ to ‘public’ category shareholders, which was approved by the Board of Directors, subject to the approval of the company’s shareholders, stock exchanges, and other necessary approvals.
