According to Ookla’s Speedtest Global Index, India climbed 10 spots in January 2023 to become the world’s 69th fastest mobile internet provider, making it one of the month’s biggest gainers.

According to the report, India’s median mobile download speed was 29.85 Mbps, while the upload speed was 6.16 Mbps, with a latency of 31 milliseconds. In January 2023, mobile upload speeds in India increased by 18% from 25.29 Mbps in December 2022, while upload speeds increased by 12%. The United Arab Emirates climbed one spot to reclaim first place in mobile internet speed, with a median download speed of 161.15 Mbps, which is 5.4 times faster than India. Papua New Guinea, a small island nation, jumped 24 spots to 101 in the mobile internet speed ranking in January 2023, outperforming India.
