How to Get Startup India Certificate

To get a Startup India certificate, your company needs to be recognized as a “startup” by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Government of India. Here are the steps to follow:

Check if your company meets the eligibility criteria: To be eligible for recognition as a startup, your company must meet the following criteria:
a. The company must be registered in India.
b. The company must be less than 10 years old.
c. The annual turnover of the company must be less than INR 100 crore.
d. The company must be working towards innovation, development, deployment, or commercialization of new products, processes, or services driven by technology or intellectual property.

Register your company on the Startup India portal: You need to create an account on the Startup India portal (www.startupindia.gov.in) and register your company as a startup. You will need to provide details about your company, including the name, registration number, and date of incorporation.

Upload the necessary documents: You will need to upload the following documents on the Startup India portal:
a. Certificate of Incorporation of the company.
b. Brief description of the business model and how it is innovative.
c. Details of the directors and shareholders of the company.

Self-certify the compliance: You need to self-certify that your company meets the eligibility criteria and complies with the definition of a startup as per the Startup India initiative.

Submit the application: Once you have completed all the steps above, you can submit your application for recognition as a startup.

Wait for the DPIIT to review your application: The DPIIT will review your application and may ask for additional information if required.

Receive the Startup India certificate: If your application is approved, you will receive the Startup India certificate, which you can download from the Startup India portal.

Once you have received the Startup India certificate, you can avail of various benefits under the Startup India initiative, such as tax exemptions and access to government schemes and programs.
