The popular food and grocery ordering app, Swiggy, has revealed plans to incorporate an artificial intelligence (AI) feature into its platform. The company announced in an official blog post that it would introduce the AI feature in pilot mode in September. Initially, it will offer users the convenience of neural search with voice capabilities in selected Indian languages, along with providing personalized and filtered recommendations.

AI-Powered Search with Neural Language Model

Swiggy’s AI-powered search feature is closely linked to a Large Language Model (LLM) that has been extensively trained to comprehend terms related to dishes, recipes, and restaurants. The AI can also be fed with other Swiggy-specific data to enhance its capabilities. The blog highlights that the generative AI trained on an extensive food catalogue, comprising 50 million items, enables it to deliver accurate and real-time responses to food-related queries.

AI Integration Extending to Groceries and Household Items

Swiggy’s AI integration will extend beyond food-related queries alone. The platform is also extending the same technology to its Instamart service, where users can discover groceries and other household items using conversational language. We expect this move to enhance the overall user experience and make the process of discovering and purchasing groceries more intuitive and user-friendly.

Data Insights for Restaurants to Aid Expansion

Earlier this month, Swiggy took another significant step by providing data insights to restaurants using its platform. These insights aim to help restaurant partners gain valuable information about consumer preferences and demand patterns, empowering them to make informed decisions and expand their businesses effectively.

By integrating AI and leveraging data insights, Swiggy is taking proactive measures to enhance user satisfaction, improve search capabilities, and create a seamless and intuitive experience for both food and grocery ordering. The company’s focus on incorporating cutting-edge technologies underscores its commitment to staying at the forefront of the food delivery industry and providing innovative solutions for its users and partners alike.
