Apple rolls out iOS 16.6.1, here’s why iPhone users need to update ‘urgently’

Share via:

Apple has released iOS 16.6.1, an update that addresses security vulnerabilities actively exploited by attackers. The vulnerabilities are found in the ImageIO framework and Wallet, allowing attackers to execute arbitrary code. It is recommended to install the update to protect iPhones from these risks. Citizen Lab, a research group, discovered a zero-click vulnerability used by NSO Group’s Pegasus spyware. Apple acknowledges the researchers and their assistance in identifying security flaws. iOS 17 is expected to be announced on September 12 at Apple’s special event. No new features are included in iOS 16.6.1.
