Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail Limited (ABFRL) proudly announces the successful conclusion of the Sustainability Accelerator Program 2023, a collaborative initiative with 1 Million for 1 Billion (1M 1B). This groundbreaking program, held in November 2023, underscores ABFRL’s commitment to fostering green skills and empowering Indian students to champion sustainability.
Participants were recognized for their dedication and achievements with co-branded ‘Certificates of Participation’ from ABFRL and 1M 1B. The top 20 students, selected for industry engagement at an ABFRL campus, were honored with diplomas, acknowledging their outstanding performance during the 5-day internship.
The Sustainability Accelerator Program 2023 made significant strides in cultivating a new generation of environmentally conscious leaders. Firstly, it empowered participants to become proactive climate change champions, instilling inspiration and determination to drive change in their communities. Secondly, students gained valuable insights into cutting-edge technology, understanding the pivotal role they play in crafting a sustainable future.
The program provided a unique platform for hands-on activities related to sustainable technology, bridging the gap between theory and applied learning. Global experts offered mentorship, allowing students to transform their original ideas into tangible solutions, fostering a culture of innovation and creativity.
Dr. Naresh Tyagi, Chief Sustainability Officer of Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail Ltd and Co-Chair of the Green Jobs and Sustainability Accelerator Program, emphasized the program’s significance, stating, “The Sustainability Accelerator Program 2023 embodies our commitment to nurturing a sustainability mindset in India’s youth & students and empowering them to drive our collective green mission forward.”
Manav Subodh, Founder of 1M 1B, expressed pride in this pioneering collaboration, noting, “This is an industry-first partnership where a large corporation, ABFRL, and a social venture, 1M 1B, come together, placing sustainability at the core of whatever you do.” The internship aims to encourage students to be valuable contributors to climate change and introduces them to the role of technology in shaping a greener planet, with mentorship provided by ABFRL leaders.
The Internship Program, designed for maximum learning and engagement, included six Learning Days with instructor-led seminars on sustainability concepts, innovations, and green skills. Students then applied their knowledge in real-world scenarios, culminating in the Industry Day, where they presented their ideas to industry executives, showcasing the breadth of their knowledge and the impact of their efforts on the sustainable future we aspire to create.
