Homey unveils dashboards: making smart home control easier than ever

Share via:

Today, Homey, the universal smart home platform, unveiled Homey Dashboards, a new feature designed to give users greater control over their smart home devices. Available within the Homey app for iOS and Android, this customizable control panel lets your build dashboards using widgets for temperature, energy usage, device control, automation, and more.

Whether you’re trying to monitor your device’s energy consumption, set the perfect lighting for a movie, or check on your home security, Homey Dashboards combines all these functions in one clean, visual interface.

Homey Dashboards allow users to create and customize multiple dashboards tailored to specific use cases. Want quick access to lights and cameras for your living room? Or a dedicated panel for media room controls? It’s all possible, and it’s all seamless. Dashboards can be configured and accessed on smartphones and tablets, with a column-based design that ensures effortless navigation—no awkward horizontal scrolling required. The Homey app’s Home screen now doubles as a dashboard, complete with customizable widgets.

Homey Dashboards has over 25 built-in widgets covering everything from device controls and automation flows to weather and camera feeds. But that’s just the beginning—Homey’s app ecosystem allows developers to add app-specific widgets, expanding functionality and enabling deeper integration with third-party devices. The Homey App Store now includes a filter for apps that support widgets to make discovery more manageable.

Older device support

In a thoughtful move, Homey Dashboards isn’t limited to the latest hardware. While it’s free for Homey Pro (Early 2023) and Homey Cloud users, those with the older Homey Pro (2016–2019) can access the feature with a one-time purchase of €25.

Wrap up

Homey Dashboards are live and rolling out with Homey Pro firmware v12.1.0 and app version 9.0.0. If you’re using an older Homey Pro, a simple update unlocks the new features. While a free update would be ideal, a paid firmware upgrade is better than requiring new hardware purchases.

You can buy Homey Pro from Amazon.
