SUMMARY

CCPA’s investigation wing, the Director General (DG) Investigation and Bureau of Indian Standards will examine the EV major over false claims of complaint resolution

Last month, the company responded to the show cause notice issued by CCPA over an alleged violation of consumer rights

Ola Electric then informed that 99.1% of the 10,644 complaints were resolved to the complete satisfaction of the customer

The Central Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA) has launched a detailed investigation into numerous consumer complaints filed against electric vehicle manufacturer Ola Electric.

As per ET Now, CCPA’s investigation wing, the Director General (DG) Investigation and Bureau of Indian Standards will examine the EV major over false claims of complaint resolution.

Last month, the company responded to the show cause notice issued by CCPA over an alleged violation of consumer rights. On this, CCPA cross-examined the company’s responses and found them to be false.

Ola Electric then in an exchange filing informed that 99.1% of the 10,644 complaints were resolved to the complete satisfaction of the customer, as per the company’s robust redressal mechanism.

Following this, the CCPA approached the complainant who registered complaints on National Consumer Helpline. It found that the claims made by the EV major were false.

It is pertinent to note that the CCPA on October 7 issued a show-cause notice over allegations of consumer rights violations, misleading advertisements, and unfair trade practices.

Notably, the company has been facing a rising number of consumer complaints for the last few months. Recently, Aggarwal was also involved in a social media spat with comedian Kunal Kamra over the company’s after-sales service.

To address the issue, Ola Electric recently said that it would launch “HyperService” to offer “one-day resolution” of service-related issues.

It has also roped in consulting service firm EY India for a “service transformation” in response to increasing after-sales service challenges and a surge in customer complaints.

Shares of Ola Electric were trading 1.38% lower at INR 70 at 3:25 PM on the BSE.
