The Group of Ministers (GoM), formed by the Ministry of Finance to decide the GST levy rate on online gaming, casinos and horse racing, will reportedly submit its report in a day or two to Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.
According to sources cited by news agency PTI, the GST Council would likely meet at the end of August or in the first part of September to consider the report’s contents. Conrad Sangma, the chief minister of Meghalaya, presided over the GoM’s most recent meeting on July 12, although little progress was made toward determining the GST rate. The GoM had recommended imposing a 28% GST on the gross sales value of horse racing, internet gaming, and casinos in a previous report that was brought before the Council.
