A parliamentary panel reportedly grilled top Twitter executives on Friday (August 26) over allegations that the social media giant knowingly allowed the Indian government to put its ‘agent’ on the company’s payrolls.
According to sources, members of the Standing Committee on Communications and Information Technology ‘dressed down’ Twitter executives because their responses on data security and privacy issues were not’satisfactory.’ Twitter’s senior director of public policy, Samiran Gupta, and director of public policy, Shagufta Kamran, testified in front of the committee and shared their perspectives. The panel had summoned executives from Twitter to hear their perspectives on the issue of “citizens’ data security and privacy.”
