Congress MP Karti Chidambaram writes to MeitY about the EPFO data leak

Share via:

Karti Chidambaram, a member of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Information Technology and a Congress MP, has written to the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) and Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw about the EPFO data leak.

Chidambaram stated in his letter to Vaishnaw, “Between January and June 2022, India ranked second in the world in terms of data breaches.” In the absence of a data protection law, these data breaches jeopardise Indian citizens’ privacy.” Chidambaram demanded an immediate investigation into the EPFO data leak, as well as requiring data fiduciaries to notify users in the event of a data breach and instituting a tiered security compliance system.
