Earlier this year, Google announced its plan to introduce Tiles for Google Keep on Wear OS smartwatches. Now, the company is rolling out an update to the Google Keep app, bringing a new feature called the Single Note Tile to compatible Wear OS smartwatches such as the Galaxy Watch 4 and Galaxy Watch 5 series.
The Single Note Tile in Google Keep allows users to select a specific note from their collection, making it easily accessible by swiping left or right from the watch face on their smartwatch. The Tile displays up to four lines of text, providing a quick glimpse of the note’s content. Users can also include images in their notes, and these images will be visible within the Tile. Tapping on the Tile opens the complete note in the Google Keep app, where users can perform additional actions like setting reminders, deleting a note, or pinning it for easy reference.
This new Tile feature joins the existing Create Note Tile in Google Keep, which enables users to create a new note with just a click. Multiple Tiles can be added for a single note, allowing users to have quick access to multiple notes directly from their smartwatch. However, it’s worth noting that the Google Keep Tiles currently do not support the Always-on Display (AoD) mode, which could be a valuable addition for users.
Recently, Google also introduced a similar Single Note widget in the Google Keep Android app. These updates demonstrate Google’s continued efforts to enhance its Wear OS platform, as the company has been actively working on improving the user experience of Wear OS over the past few years. Additionally, Google is rumored to be working on its own smartwatch, known as the Pixel Watch, further indicating its commitment to the wearable technology market.
