A day after the Competition Commission of India (CCI) fined Google for abusing its dominant position in the Android device market, the tech giant called the decision a major setback for Indian consumers and businesses.

Google stated in a statement that it is currently reviewing the decision and will evaluate the next steps accordingly. “Android has given everyone more options and has helped thousands of successful businesses in India and around the world.” According to Google, the CCI’s antitrust decision poses serious security risks to “Indians who trust Android’s security features.” Google also expressed concern that the order could raise the cost of mobile devices for Indians. On Thursday, the competition watchdog fined Google INR 1,337.76 Cr for abusing its dominant position in the Android device market.
