The Delhi High Court has dismissed a petition filed by Amazon Seller Services seeking to limit private cable and DTH operators’ re-transmission of the ongoing cricket series between India and New Zealand via DD Sports.
The plea was dismissed by Justice Yashwant Varma, who was hearing Amazon’s case. Amazon had challenged the TDSAT order, claiming that private players broadcasting the cricket match through Prasar Bharti effectively diluted its exclusive media rights. The move is not expected to bode well for Amazon Prime Video, which purchased the exclusive media rights in order to attract more cricket fans.
