Mohalla Tech Private Ltd, the parent company of vernacular content platforms Sharechat and Moj, laid off 500 people, or roughly 20% of its workforce.
It was not immediately clear which departments within the content unicorn had been affected by the layoffs. The news follows the closure of Mohalla Tech’s fantasy gaming platform Jeet11 last month, which resulted in the layoff of 100 employees. Mohalla Tech’s latest round of layoffs brings the company’s total number of layoffs to 600. The parent company of Sharechat and Moj will also extend health insurance coverage until June 30, 2023, and will allow impacted employees to keep work assets such as laptops.
