Google’s AI-powered ‘multisearch,’ which combines text and images in a single query, goes global
The search feature, which allows users to search using both text and images at the same time, was first introduced in April as a way to modernise Google search to better take advantage of the capabilities of smartphones. A variation on this, “multisearch near me,” which focuses on local businesses, will be made available globally in the coming months, as will multisearch for the web and a new Lens feature for Android users. As previously stated by Google, multisearch is powered by A.I. technology known as Multitask Unified Model, or MUM, which can understand information in a variety of formats, such as text, photos, and videos, and then draw insights and connections between topics, concepts, and ideas.
