Meta was sued for allegedly developing a secret workaround to Apple’s security features introduced last year to protect iPhone users from having their internet activity tracked, Bloomberg reported..
Two Facebook users filed a complaint in San Francisco federal court accusing Meta of violating state and federal laws, limiting the unauthorised collection of personal data, and ignoring Apple’s 2021 privacy rules. Willis v. Meta Platforms Inc., 22-cv-05376, and Mitchell v. Meta Platforms Inc., 22-cv-05267, both in the US District Court for the Northern District of California (San Francisco). Bloomberg reported that a similar complaint was filed in the same court last week, and that the suits are based on a report by data privacy researcher Felix Krause.
