Former Bharat Pe MD fined Rs 2 lakh by Delhi HC

The Delhi High Court levied a Rs 2 lakh fine on Ashneer Grover, Bharat Pe’s former Managing Director and co-founder, for sharing inappropriate posts about the company, despite his assurance to refrain from such behavior. The court dismissed Bharat Pe’s plea to stop Grover from posting defamatory content, acknowledging his commitment to abstain and his apology.

BharatPe recently filed a new case seeking to prevent Grover from disclosing confidential company information, citing his employment agreement’s confidentiality obligations.

Grover, under investigation for alleged financial irregularities, shared details about BharatPe’s Series E funding on a social media platform last week, involving Tiger Global and Dragoneer Investor group.

Grover and his wife were halted at the Delhi airport due to a lookout circular linked to the alleged fraud at BharatPe. The Economic Offences Wing (EoW) issued the circular, investigating supposed payments to fake human resource consultancies connected to Grover’s family.

Amidst these events, BharatPe pursued legal action, filing a civil suit against Grover, his wife, and other family members, alleging misappropriation of funds and seeking over Rs 88 crore in damages.
