MIB redressed 265 grievances against over-the-top (OTT) content under IT rules

The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) redressed 265 grievances against over-the-top (OTT) content under IT rules, 2021, Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur informed Rajya Sabha.

“Since the Rules were published, the ministry has received 265 grievances, which have been addressed in accordance with the established procedure,” the minister stated. The Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021, establish a Code of Ethics for online curated content publishers to follow. Under the rule notified in February 2021, the government also established a three-tier grievance redressal mechanism to address grievances relating to Code violations.
