TikTok’s parent company ByteDance is developing a new learning platform for children that the company is referring to as GeniusJoy, per two job postings on its website and a June trademark filing by a company subsidiary.

ByteDance is looking for math curriculum developers in Singapore and Los Angeles to “research mathematical curriculums and teaching objectives of competitive countries” and “collaborate to design a universal syllabus or knowledge system for primary school math.” ByteDance has a history of investing in educational technologies. Dali, a standalone edtech division for the Chinese market, was announced by the company in October 2020. However, after the Chinese government cracked down on online tutoring platforms, the company reduced its education projects in 2021.
