South Africa’s gaming startup, Carry1st, raised $27 million in Pre-Series B led by BITKRAFT Ventures where Andreessen Horowitz (a16z), TTV Capital, Alumni Ventures, Lateral Capital, Kepple Ventures, and Konvoy also participated.

With this transaction completing its entry into North Africa, the startup says it will continue to focus on further expansion in the Middle Eastern esports industry. GBArena will take advantage of Galactech’s on-the-ground presence and capabilities in Riyadh, Dubai, and Tunis. According to the company, the acquisition is one step closer to achieving their vision of becoming the leading aggregator in MENA, serving all stakeholders in the industry.
