Google laid off its director of mental health and wellbeing as part of the company’s ongoing job cuts, which are expected to affect 6% of its workforce.

The tech behemoth is currently laying off 12,000 employees, including senior executives such as Kristin Maczko, head of the company’s mental health division and a 15-year Google employee. Maczko began his career as a data scientist at Google in 2008 before transitioning to finance. She was appointed Google’s director of mental health and wellbeing in July 2021, a position she held until it was eliminated last week.
